happy valentine's

Hope everyone is having a lovely day of expressing joy and love to others as well as practicing a bit of self love and appreciation. Tonight we made Valentine's and worked quite hard on them. I was going to knit a bunch of hearts and have Westley sew the edges with a contrasting color but after I knit 2, and although they knit quickly, 14 more wasn't happening. We'll reserve those for his teacher and art teacher. Instead, we traced and cut out hearts on construction paper and Westley sewed the edges and attached fortune cookies. Note: He used a very blunt darning needle so as not to poke himself. I "pre-drilled" the holes by pre-poking with a sharper needle. Very easy and fun for little man who learned a bit about sewing.

Happy Valentine's!

Only non-blurry one I could get but it came with shadows. Little heart pattern: here. Teeny-tiny heart pattern: here.
ready to spread the love

I just have to share some motherly advice from Facebook. This is my friend's mother's advice. And it's just lovely. From Anastasia's momma:

Asked my Mom for "Momma advice" on stress as my Valentine's present. Here's the great response she sent. Love it!
(from Momma:) "Here is what I think would be the perfect Valentine's Day.
You must be prepared to have a restful and unstressful day. Get a good night's rest, preferably 8 hours.
Get up and have a cup of coffee and two pieces of dark chocolate.
Take a long, relaxing bubble bath followed by two more pieces of dark chocolate.

Have a light lunch of your choice.

Watch a good relaxing movie with a glass of wine and two more pieces of dark chocolate.

In the evening go out for a nice romatic dinner and have an enjoyable conversation.

Spend the rest of the evening relaxing, cuddling with someone you care about, as well as the cats.

Forget about work and anything that would cause stress.

Have two more pieces of dark chocolate!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Love, Mom"
